Curry Popcorn is freshly popped popcorn coated with a homemade curry seasoning blend made from yellow curry powder, salt, and sugar. The popcorn kernels are popped in coconut or vegetable oil and then tossed with the spiced mixture to create an aromatic, mildly savory, and slightly sweet snack. This treat combines popcorn's crunchy texture with the warm spices of curry powder that make it distinct.
Ingredients
Curry seasoning blend
- 2 tablespoons yellow curry powder
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2 teaspoons sugar
Popcorn Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons coconut oil vegetable oil is also ok
- 1/2 cup popcorn kernels
Instructions
Prepare seasoning blend
- In a small bowl combine the yellow curry powder, the salt, and the sugar. Stir until the mixture is uniform.
Prepare popcorn
- Heat oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Once hot add the popcorn.
- Place a lid on the pot, cook until the popping subsides. Remove the pot from the stove, and wait 30 seconds before pouring into a bowl.
- Sprinkle on as much curry powder mixture as you desire.
