Dehydrating Scallions / Green Onions

Dehydrating garlic scapes is an easy way to preserve this delicious, early summer vegetable. Make garlic scape powder too. Great to add to so many dishes.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups scallions

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Wash and dry well.
  2. Use a sharp knife or kitchen scissors. pieces. Chop into about ½ inch slices.
  3. Arrange slices on parchment lined dehydrator trays in a single layer. Place the trays in the dehydrator.
  4. Set heat to 85-95°F / 50°C, if your dehydrator has a temperature control.
  5. Dry for 8-12 hours until they are dry enough to snap between you fingers. The most important thing is get all of the moisture out so that they don’t mold.
