Easy Brown Sugar Glaze for Ham

This is the perfect glazed ham. By using a spiral cut bone-in ham, you'll get the maximum amount of flavor with just the right sweetness with the caramelized glaze.

Ingredients

  • 8 lb fully cooked spiral cut, bone-in ham
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon allspice
  • 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard

Instructions

  1. Remove the ham from the refrigerator 1 hour before cooking.
  2. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  3. Place the ham, flat side down, in a roasting pan and cover it with foil.
  4. Bake in the oven for 60 minutes.
  5. While the ham is baking, add the butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, allspice, and dijon mustard to a saucepan.
  6. Heat it over medium heat, whisking as the butter begins to melt. Remove from the heat.
  7. Remove the ham from the oven, remove the foil, and baste it with the glaze.
  8. Place the ham back in the oven and bake an additional 20 minutes.
  9. Remove the ham from the oven and add the remaining glaze.

Notes

  • If the glaze is too thick and you need to thin it out, add water a tablespoon at a time until it's the consistency you want.
  • If you can't find spiral sliced, be sure to score the ham with a sharp knife in a diamond pattern about 1/4" deep around the ham.
  • You'll want to wait to add the glaze until the last 20 minutes of baking to keep the sugar from burning.
