Easy Christmas Truffles Recipe: Merry Chocolate Bites
Easy Christmas Truffles are smooth, peppermint-flavored chocolate bites made by melting chocolate chips and combining them with heated heavy cream and peppermint extract. Once chilled and semi-firm, the mixture is rolled into balls and optionally decorated with festive icing and sprinkles. These no-bake truffles offer a rich, creamy texture with a holiday twist, suitable for gifting or serving at celebrations.
Ingredients
- 3 cups chocolate chips semi-sweet
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1 tbsp peppermint extract
- Icing optional, red
- green icing (optional)
- holiday sprinkles (optional)
Instructions
- Pour the chocolate chips into a large bowl. Heat your heavy cream on the stove at medium heat until steaming and pour over the chocolate.
- Add the peppermint extract to the mixture and stir until combined.
- Place the truffle mixture into the fridge for at least 2 hours or until semi-firm.
- Scoop about 1 ½ tbsp of the chocolate mixture. Using the palms of your hands, roll the mixture into a round ball.
- Place each ball on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Repeat until you run out of the truffle mixture.
- Decorate with icing and sprinkles in any design you choose for a festive look.
- Place the balls in the refrigerator until ready to enjoy or gift.
Notes
- Milk or white chocolate can be used but will yield a sweeter truffle.
- Decorations can include a variety of sprinkles or dipping in cocoa powder for different textures.
- Truffles keep refrigerated for up to 1 week or frozen for up to 1 month.
