Easy Fruit Appetizer: Fruit Cocktail Recipe

For a fruity and refreshing snack, dessert or appetizer, this mixed fruit appetizer is always a crowd favorite! What could be better than a variety of fresh, juicy fruits on a hot summer’s day? If you aren’t a fan of canned fruit cocktail salad, you’re sure to enjoy this easy, homemade version using seasonal fruit and berries.

Ingredients

For the Salad
  • 1/2 lb fresh strawberries sliced
  • 1/2 lb chopped pineapple
  • 1/4 lb blueberries
  • 1/4 lb grapes halved
  • 2 kiwis peeled and chopped, or peach
  • 1 mandarin oranges
  • 1 banana sliced
For the Dressing
  • 4 tablespoons honey
  • 1/2 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Clean and cut the fruit.
  2. Add everything except bananas to a large mixing bowl.
  3. In a small bowl, make the dressing by whisking together honey and lemon juice.
  4. Pour the dressing over the fruit mixture and toss to coat.
  5. Add banana slices and mix very gently before serving. Enjoy!

Notes

  • It’s best to use ripened fruit as they are sweeter and have a better texture.
  • The best part of a fruit cocktail is getting the opportunity to enjoy many different fruits at once. Use a wide variety of fruit for a snack that’s full of flavor.
  • For the freshest, tastiest fruit salad, I recommend adding slices of bananas later, right before you’re ready to serve your salad.
