Easy Goulash Recipe
This Easy Goulash combines lean ground beef with diced onions and bell pepper, simmered in a tomato-based sauce along with garlic, seasoned salt, and Italian herbs. Uncooked macaroni noodles cook directly in the simmering broth, absorbing the flavors and thickening the dish. The cheddar cheese stirred in at the end adds a creamy, melty finish. It's a comforting, one-pot meal that balances the acidity of tomatoes with savory beef and hearty pasta.
Ingredients
- 1 Tablespoon olive oil
- 1 large onion peeled and diced
- 1 green bell pepper seeded and diced
- 2 pounds ground beef lean
- 3 cloves garlic peeled and minced
- 2 (15 ounce) tomato sauce canned
- 2 (15 ounce) diced tomatoes petite, canned
- 3 cups beef broth
- 3 Tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 teaspoons seasoned salt
- 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
- 3 bay leaf
- 2 cups macaroni noodles uncooked
- 2 cups cheddar cheese shredded
Instructions
- Add olive oil to large pot or Dutch oven and heat over medium-high heat. Add the onion, bell pepper, and ground beef then cook, stirring often, until the beef is fully browned. Drain off any excess fat. Add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
- Add the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, seasoned salt, Italian seasoning, bay leaves, and uncooked macaroni noodles. Stir well and bring mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Reduce the heat to low and allow the mixture to simmer, stirring occasionally, for about 20 minutes until the pasta is tender.
- Remove the bay leaves and stir in the cheddar cheese just before serving.
