Easy Honey Bourbon Chicken

This is the best bourbon chicken recipe made with honey to create a sweet and delicious sauce.

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds skinless boneless chicken breasts or thighs
- 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil divided
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 1/3 cup reduced sodium chicken broth
- 1/3 cup low sodium soy sauce
- 1/4 cup honey
- 3 tablespoons bourbon (or apple juice)
- 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper or more to taste
- cooked rice for serving
- sliced green onions for serving
Instructions
- Cut the chicken into 1-inch pieces, then place them in a large bowl and toss with 2 tablespoons cornstarch until well coated.
- Heat the oil in a large skillet. Add the chicken, season with salt and pepper to taste, and cook for 5 to 6 minutes, until cooked through and golden brown. Transfer to a plate and set aside.
- Add the remaining tablespoon of cornstarch to a small bowl, then add the garlic, ginger, broth, soy sauce, honey, bourbon, vinegar, sesame oil and red pepper. Whisk well.
- Pour the sauce mixture into the skillet and cook for 2 to 3 minutes, until thickened.
- Return the chicken and juices to the skillet. Stir to coat and cook for 2 minutes, or until warmed through.
- Serve over rice and garnish with green onions.
Notes
- SUBSTITUTIONS
- STORAGE: Store leftovers in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat prior to serving.
