Easy Kasha Varnishkes Recipe

This delicious Kasha Varnishkes recipe is super easy to make and will definitely make your bubbe proud. The perfect side dish to any Jewish meal or Holiday.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Kasha uncooked
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 3/4 cup vegetable or chicken stock
  • salt + pepper
  • 8 oz bowtie pasta
  • 2 onions finely chopped
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a bowl mix the raw kasha with eggs until completely combined
  2. On a large over medium heat, add the 2 tablespoons of butter
  3. After butter melts, add the kasha and mix with a wooden spoon until kasha toasts up. About 3-4 minutes
  4. Pour the stock, salt, and pepper
  5. When the liquid start boiling, cover and cook for 18-20 minutes or until the kasha browns
  6. Cook the pasta according to the package directions. Drain
  7. In a skillet add the olive oil over medium-low heat. Add the onions and cook until the onions caramelize
  8. When everything is ready. Add the onions and drained pasta to the kasha and mix everything until together
  9. Check for salt and pepper
  10. Enjoy!
