Easy Matcha Tea

Ingredients

  • ½ teaspoon matcha powder
  • ¼ cup water hot
  • 1 cup water hot, additional
  • honey or maple syrup, or other sweetener, optional, to taste

  1. Sift. Sift the matcha (to remove any lumps) into a mug or small bowl.
  2. Whisk. Pour the ¼ cup of hot water into the mug and use a matcha whisk to whisk vigorously in a "W" pattern for about 30 seconds, until frothy. Alternatively, you can use an electric frother.
  3. Fill up the mug. Add the remaining hot water and enjoy. Sweeten to taste, if desired.

Notes

  • For a smooth texture, sift matcha powder to remove lumps before whisking.
  • Whisk vigorously in a "W" pattern to achieve froth and even dissolution.
  • Sweeten with honey, maple syrup, or other sweeteners to adjust bitterness.
  • For a cold version, chill the prepared tea and serve over ice.
  • Using a matcha bowl or small mug facilitates proper whisking and serving.
