Easy Steak Seasoning Recipe

In just minutes whisk up the best seasoning mix for steaks. A simple blend of spices sprinkled on steak adds a delicious flavor to any cut of steak.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • 2 teaspoons dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1 Tablespoon smoked paprika

Instructions

  1. Steak Seasoning
  2. Place spices in a small bowl and mix ingredients with a whisk or spoon.
  3. Store in an airtight container.
  4. To Use Steak Rub
  5. Pat steak with a dry paper towel on both sides of the steak is the steak is overly wet.
  6. Sprinkle steak seasoning on the steak and spread it with your fingers.
  7. Pat down so the spices become moist from the steak. Repeat on opposite side of the steak.
  8. Allow the steak to come to room temperature.
  9. Grill or pan sear steak for 6-12 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches the doneness you desire.

  • Since this seasoning blend does not include salt, use a finishing salt like Malden after your steak is cooked.
  • You could also use kosher salt or sea salt on your steaks before adding the steak seasoning mix. Grind fresh salt on both sides of the steak before adding the steak spice mix.
  • After seasoning allow the steaks to reach room temperature for 30 minutes before cooking for the best flavor.
  • The best way to ensure the seasoning sticks to the steak is to rub it in or pat it into the meat with your fingers.
  • You could also rub your steak with a little olive oil before you season it for a nice crust or add a little oil to the pan before cooking the steak.
