Easy Strawberry Salsa
This Strawberry Salsa is full of juicy strawberries, freshly squeezed lime juice, and chopped basil. Pair it with a basket of tortilla chips for the perfect summer time appetizer, or as a topping for grilled chicken or fish. It's delicious!

Ingredients
- 3 cups strawberries chopped small
- 2 Tablespoons fresh lime juice
- Zest from one lime
- 1 Tablespoon olive oil
- 1 Tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1 small shallot diced
- 1/4 cup fresh basil chopped
Instructions
- Place the chopped strawberries in a medium sized bowl. Add the lime juice, lime zest, olive oil, sugar, salt, pepper, diced shallot, and chopped basil.
- Gently stir to combine all the ingredients. You can serve it immediately, or refrigerate until ready to serve.

Notes
- Fresh herbs are important. I like the flavor of basil with my strawberry salsa, but you could also try it with fresh cilantro. Just don't use dried herbs; this recipe works best with the fresh stuff.
- Add a little heat. Add a thinly sliced jalapeno pepper to your salsa for a bit of a kick.
- Switch up the fruit. Pineapple or mango would be great substitutes for the strawberries in your fruit salsa recipe.
- Serve at room temperature or refrigerate for a few hours to allow the flavors to blend. I do find that this salsa tastes best served the same day it's made.
- Store your strawberry salsa in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days.
