Ensalada Chilena (Chilean Salad)

Ensalada chilena (Chilean Salad) is a very traditional Chilean salad that is prepared with very thinly sliced onion, tomato wedges, and cilantro. It is often served on grilled meats, fish or humitas.

Ingredients

  • 3 tomatoes
  • 1 onion
  • ½ bunch cilantro , chopped
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • salt
  • freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Peel the tomatoes. You can peel them more easily by immersing them in hot water for a minute.
  2. Cut into wedges and arrange on a plate
  3. Thinly cut the onion. Immerse in hot water for 5 minutes, then drain.
  4. Add the onion to the tomatoes and sprinkle with chopped cilantro.
  5. Spray a little olive oil, sprinkle salt and crushed black pepper.
  6. Mix and serve.
