Ingredients
- 2 cups flour *all purpose
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3 oz butter, unsalted *cut into small pieces
- 1 cup buttermilk
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 475 degrees.
- In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the butter pieces into the flour mixture and cut it in using a pastry knife (or two forks) until it has a coarse meal consistency.
- Pour in the buttermilk and stir until just combined.
- Place dough onto a floured surface and using your hands, gently pat out dough until its about 1 inch thick. *You may need additional flour on hands/surface to avoid sticking
- Use a round cutter and place cut out biscuits into your cast iron skillet or onto a baking tray.
- Place pan/tray into preheated oven and bake for about 10 minutes, or until slightly golden on top and cooked through.
- Remove from oven and serve with gravy, jam, or honey.
