Fra Diavolo

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Shrimp , peeled and deveined
  • 4 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 5 cloves garlic , thinly sliced
  • 1 large onion , chopped
  • 1 cup dry white wine
  • 16 oz. peeled and crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (or more to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh basil
  • 3 tablespoons chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley
  • 16 oz. linguine (or spaghetti, cooked according to package instructions)
  • salt
  • black pepper , freshly ground
  • parmesan , to serve

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil over high heat in a large sauté pan.
  2. Season the shrimp with garlic salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Add the seasoned shrimp to the hot pan and fry over medium heat for 2 minutes, stirring frequently.
  4. Remove the shrimp from the pan and set aside.
  5. Pour the onions and garlic into the frying pan and brown them over medium heat for 5 minutes, stirring frequently and taking care not to burn the garlic.
  6. Add the white wine, peeled tomatoes, lemon juice, basil, parsley and chili flakes.
  7. Cook for 15 minutes covered and over medium heat.
  8. Return the sautéed shrimp to the pan and toss.
  9. Add the pasta to the pan and toss to coat all the ingredients.
  10. Serve immediately with parmesan.
