French Toast Bagel

A recipe for a French Toast Bagel! Bagel halves are soaked briefly on each side in a cinnamon vanilla custard, then fried in a skillet until golden brown.

Ingredients

French Toast Bagel:
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup (120 milliliters) heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup (120 milliliters) milk
  • 2 tablespoons (25 grams) granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch salt
  • 1/2 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1/2 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 4 bagels halved

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt. 
  2. In a skillet, melt the butter and oil over medium low heat. 
  3. Soak each bagel half in the egg mixture for at least one minute per side.
  4. Place the soaked bagel half in the heated skillet and cook until golden, about 2 minutes.
  5. Flip and cook the other side for another 1-2 minutes. Repeat with remaining bagels.
  6. Serve the French Toast Bagels hot with desired toppings.
