French Toast Sticks

Crispy French Toast Sticks are a favorite kid-friendly breakfast! Quick easy crispy cinnamon bread planks perfect for dipping in maple syrup.

Ingredients

  • 8 slices bread , thick sliced bread
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Cut each slice of bread into 4 sticks from the top of the slice to the bottom.
  2. Whisk together the egg, milk, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla and sugar in a large bowl.
  3. Add the butter to a heavy bottomed skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Dip the bread sticks in the custard then remove and let drip for 5 seconds before adding to pan.
  5. Cook the sticks until browned on both sides, about 2-4 minutes per side.
  6. Serve with a small bowl of maple syrup for dipping and berries.
