Ingredients
- 1 lb button mushrooms ends trimmed
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour divided
- 1 cup beer
- 2 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
- 3/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- vegetable oil for frying
- optional chopped fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Heat 3 inches of oil in a deep pot to 375°F.
- Coat the mushrooms in 1/2 cup flour, shaking off the excess.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the remaining flour, beer, salt, pepper, garlic powder and onion powder.
- Coat each mushroom in the batter, letting the excess batter drip back into the bowl.
- Fry the mushrooms in batches so they’re not crowded. Stir them occasionally and fry until golden brown and cooked through. This will take between 3-7 minutes depending on the size of the mushrooms.
- Repeat the process until all of the mushrooms are done.
- Sprinkle with parsley and serve immediately.
