Furikake Salmon

This Furikake Salmon is an easy, delicious, and healthy dish, perfect for busy weeknights as it can be on the table in under 20 minutes! This recipe has only 5 ingredients but is still so flavorful, thanks to the furikake, an umami-packed Japanese seasoning. The salmon is meltingly tender and can be cooked in the oven or air fryer. If you love salmon, then this recipe is a must-try! Serve it with some steamed greens and rice for a quick, delicious, simple meal that is sure to impress.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb salmon fillets , skinless (see note 1)
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise (see note 2)
  • 1 teaspoon wasabi
  • ½ teaspoon soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons Furikake

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven or air fryer to 400ºF/200ºC
Prepare the salmon
  1. Let the salmon come to room temperature while the oven heats up.1 lb / 450 g salmon fillets
  2. Mix the mayonnaise, wasabi, and soy in a small bowl.2 tablespoons mayonnaise1 teaspoon wasabi½ teaspoon soy sauce
  3. Spread the mixture over the salmon fillets.
  4. Sprinkle the furikake over the salmon.3 tablespoons Furikake
To cook in the oven.
  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Place the salmon fillets on the baking sheet and cook in the middle of the oven for 6-8 minutes if you have 4 thin fillets or 8-10 minutes if you have 2 thick fillets.
To cook in the air fryer.
  1. Line the air fryer basket with a square of parchment paper or a store-bought liner.
  2. Place the salmon fillets in the basket with space between them. Cook for 6-8 minutes if you have 4 thin fillets or 8-10 minutes if you have 2 thick fillets.

Notes

  • The recipe calls for 1lb/460g of salmon. You can use 4 thin pieces or 2 thick pieces. 
  • I like to use kewpie mayo for this recipe but use your favorite brand. Please don't use a low-fat or fat-reduced alternative, as they don't cook well.
