Ingredients

  • 8 ounces wide rice noodles
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 8 ounces flank steak sliced against the grain, sliced
  • 3 teaspoons garlic about 3 cloves, minced
  • 8 ounces mushroom sliced
  • ¼ cup brown sugar packed
  • ½ cup soy sauce reduced-sodium
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • ¼ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes crushed
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Cook 8 ounces wide rice noodles according to package directions. Add 3 cups broccoli florets in the last 5 minutes of cooking and let them cook until tender. Drain the noodles and broccoli.
  2. While the pasta is cooking, add 1 tablespoon olive oil to a medium-sized skillet. Cook 8 ounces sliced flank steak until no longer pink. Add 3 teaspoons minced garlic , and 8 ounces sliced mushrooms and cook for a minute more.
  3. In a small bowl whisk together ¼ cup packed brown sugar, ½ cup reduced-sodium soy sauce, 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce, 2 teaspoons sesame oil, ¼ teaspoon ground ginger, ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes, ¼ teaspoon pepper, and 1 tablespoon cornstarch.
  4. Add the noodles to the skillet, pour the sauce on top, mix and toss until incorporated, and cook for 2-3 minutes until heated through.
