Garlic Cheese Toast
Garlic Cheese Toast pairs softened butter mixed with garlic and a blend of cheddar, Monterey Jack, and Parmesan cheeses spread over bread slices. Baked until the cheese melts and optionally broiled for a golden top, it yields a warm, savory toast with a rich cheesy crust and a mild garlic aroma. It’s a flexible side or snack that can be assembled from common ingredients and adapted with different cheese combinations.
Ingredients
- 10 tablespoons butter softened, divided, salted
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- ½ cup cheddar cheese shredded
- ¼ cup Monterey jack cheese shredded
- ¼ cup Parmesan Cheese shredded
- salt to taste
- black pepper to taste
- 10 lices bread slightly dry, thick sliced
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- Butter one side of the pieces of bread with the 2 tablespoons butter. Place on a baking sheet butter side down.
- Combine remaining butter, garlic and cheeses in a food processor. Pulse until mixed.
- Spread over the unbuttered side of the bread. Place in the oven on the middle rack and bake 8-10 minutes or until cheese is melted.
- Optional: Turn onto broil for 30-60 seconds to brown the cheese
Notes
- If unavailable, mix the garlic cheese butter by hand or with a hand mixer instead of a food processor.
- Any cheeses can be used; including a sharp cheese like Parmesan ensures a bold flavor.
- This mixture can be spread on French bread slices to create a cheesy bread loaf.
