Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 1 cup shortening cold
  • 3/4 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 2 eggs room temperature
  • 2 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 2 teaspoon butter extract
  • 1 1/4 1 1/4 cups 60% cacao bittersweet chocolate baking chips

  1. Pre-heat oven to 350°F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. In a medium mixing bowl, stir together the together flour, salt, and baking soda.
  2. In another large mixing bowl, use a hand-mixer to cream together shortening, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing between each addition. Mix in the extracts. Then, add the dry ingredients and stir to combine; when only a little amount of flour remains, add and stir in the chococolate chips.
  3. Place about 1 1/2 Tablespoons of cookie dough on a baking sheet, with approximately 2 inches between each dollop of cookie dough. Bake for 9-11 minutes, until the edges are beginning to turn golden brown. Remove from the oven and let the cookies rest on baking sheet for 2-3 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack to cool.
  4. Enjoy warm, or let cool completely and store in an airtight container.
