Gingerbread Snowflake Cookies

These Gingerbread Snowflake Cookies are not just beautiful but absolutely delicious! A great addition to your holiday cookie platter, these are worth every minute working to bake and decorate them.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 C unsalted sweet cream butter softened
  • 1/2 C sugar
  • 1/2 C molasses
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 C cold water
  • 3 1/2 C flour
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp allspice
Icing
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1/4 tsp cream of tarter
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla
  • 2 1/4 C powder sugar
  • white sanding sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 and line cookie sheet with parchment paper
  2. Using a standing mixer, beat together the butter, sugar, and molasses
  3. Add in the water and mix until combined
  4. In a large bowl, combine the flour, and the spices
  5. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients into the wet
  6. Roll dough out on a floured surface to 1/4 inch in thickness
  7. Using snowflake cookie cutters, cut out your shapes
  8. Bake in the oven for 10 minutes
  9. Allow to cool completely
Icing
  1. Using the standing mixer, combine the egg whites, cream of tarter, vanilla and powder sugar and mix until combined and stiff peaks form
  2. Scoop icing into the piping bag
  3. Decorate your cookies how ever you want.
  4. Sprinkle the white sanding sugar onto a plate
  5. Dip the cookie, icing into the sugar
  6. Place onto a cookie sheet to allow dry for 30 minutes before enjoying.
