Ingredients

  • 1 (8.82 ounce) DeLallo Potato & Cheese Gnocchi Kit
  • 1/2 medium onion chopped
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine or water
  • 1 (28 fluid ounce) can DeLallo San Marzano Style Crushed Tomatoes
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 pinch red pepper flakes optional
  • 3 sprigs fresh basil
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • For serving: more fresh basil (torn) and freshly grated parmesan cheese optional

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Add the olive oil and onion to a medium saucepan over medium-high heat and sauté for 5 minutes.
  2. Stir in the garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  3. Add in the wine, crushed tomatoes, oregano, red pepper flakes, and give it a good stir. Gently add the whole sprigs of basil in. Reduce the heat (to low or medium-low) and simmer gently, uncovered, for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Meanwhile, boil a large, salted pot of water for the gnocchi, and prepare the gnocchi according to the package directions.
  5. Give the marinara sauce a taste, remove the basil sprigs, and season with plenty of salt & pepper as needed. If you prefer the sauce to be a little sweeter, you can stir in a pinch of sugar. Serve the gnocchi with the marinara sauce spooned over top. Optional: serve with extra basil and freshly grated parmesan cheese.
