Ingredients
Asphalt Pie
- 24 Oreo cookies crushed
- ¼ cup butter melted
- 1.5 quarts Ice cream mint chocolate chip
Salted Caramel Topping
- ½ cup sugar
- 3 tablespoons butter sliced
- ¼ cup heavy whipping cream
- ½ teaspoon salt sea salt
Whipped Cream
- 1 cup whipping cream
- ½ cup powdered sugar
Instructions
Asphalt Pie
- In a small bowl, mix crushed cookies and melted butter. Stir until combined.
- Press the crust into the bottom of a 9-inch pie plate.
- Fill with ice cream. Cover and freeze for at least 3 hours before serving.
Salted Caramel Topping
- Heat the sugar in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly and scraping the bottom, until the sugar has melted into an amber liquid, about 5 minuites.
- Once the sugar has melted, add the butter. Once the butter is melted, add the cream. Boil for 1 minute. Remove from heat and stir in sea salt.
Whipped Cream
- Using an electric mixer, beat cream, and powdered sugar until they form stiff peaks.
- Remove the pie from the freezer. Drizzle caramel topping over each slice and add whipped cream.
Notes
- Increasing ice cream to double the amount creates a taller, more impressive pie.
- Freeze the pie well for at least 3 hours to ensure the ice cream is firm before adding toppings.
- Prepare the caramel sauce carefully, stirring the sugar constantly to avoid burning and achieve the correct amber color.
- Whip the cream to stiff peaks for the best whipped cream texture and appearance.
