Grasshopper Pie
Description
Grasshopper Pie begins with an Oreo cookie crust formed from crushed cookies mixed with melted butter pressed into a pie plate. This crust provides a firm, chocolatey base to hold the filling. The pie is then filled with mint chocolate chip ice cream and frozen to solidify.
The topping is a salted caramel sauce made by melting sugar until amber, then adding butter, cream, and sea salt to create a smooth, rich drizzle. Whipped cream sweetened with powdered sugar is prepared separately and added just before serving.
When served, slices of the frozen pie are topped with salted caramel and a dollop of whipped cream, combining creamy, crunchy, minty, and sweet-salty flavors and textures for a layered dessert experience.
The notes suggest doubling the ice cream quantity to make a taller, mile-high pie, ideal for more servings or a more impressive presentation.
