Greek Flank Steak Crock Pot

Simple flank steak recipe made in a slow cooker yielding a tender beef dish with tasty beef sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 large onion chopped
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 1 1/4 lb flank steaks, cut in half
  • 1 cup low-sodium beef broth
  • Dash cayenne pepper optional

Instructions

  1. Place onion in a 5 - 7 quart slow cooker.
  2. Stir together oil, garlic, oregano, salt, pepper and cayenne pepper (optional).
  3. Rub mixture over steaks and place on onions in the slow cooker.
  4. Add broth, cover and cook on low 8 hours.
  5. Cut steak across the grain into thin slices (reserve half steak for another meal)
  6. Serve remaining steak with onions and gravy from slow cooker.

Notes

  • I thickened the broth adding 1 cup of broth to a small saucepan on medium heat whisk in 1 tablespoon arrowroot, cornstarch or flour stirring until broth is slightly thickened.
