Grilled Cheese Sandwich with Apples

This grilled cheese with apples is the perfect combination of creamy, salty, tart and sweet. Feel free to use your favorite cheeses and any variety of apple works with this delicious elevated grilled cheese sandwich.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 8 lices bread (any kind)
  • 4 ounces cheese (thinly sliced – any variety such as cheddar, mozzarella or gruyere)
  • 1 medium apple (cored and thinly sliced)
  • 2 tablespoons butter (softened)

Instructions

  1. Spread butter on one side of all 8 pieces of bread then place upside down on a large cutting board. Top one piece of bread with half of the cheese then add apple slices before topping with remaining cheese and second piece of bread.
  2. Heat a griddle or frying pan over medium-high. With the butter side facing out, cook for 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown. Slice in half to serve.

Notes

  • Want to add a bit of kick? Spread a little Dijon before adding the cheese.
