Grilled Shrimp

These delicious marinated grilled shrimp are a great quick and easy recipe perfect to serve as an appetizer or part of a main meal. It takes less than 10 minutes to prep these skewers and around 5 minutes to cook them!

Ingredients

  • 2 Tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 Tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic 
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • A pinch of red pepper flakes optional
  • 1 lb. peeled cleaned shrimp

Instructions

  1. Soak bamboo skewers in water for 30 mins before using.
  2. Mix together olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, and spices in a mixing bowl.
  3. Add the shrimp to the bowl and mix until coated. Let the shrimp sit for 30 minutes.
  4. After the shrimp has marinated, thread shrimp on pre-soaked skewers.
  5. Preheat the grill (or charcoal grill) to medium heat, oil the grates and grill the shrimps for 2-3 minutes per side until opaque.
  6. Transfer skewers to a plate and serve.

Notes

  • Preheat the grill and oil the grates before adding the shrimp.
  • If you are using wooden skewers, be sure to pre-soak them before threading the shrimp.
  • Peel and devein the shrimp before marinating so it can soak up all the flavors.
  • Be careful not to overcook the shrimp, they only need 2 to 3 minutes on each side. Otherwise, it will turn rubbery and chewy.
  • Only flip the shrimp once. When they are ready to flip, they will release from the grill.
  • You can also grill the shrimp in your favorite grill pan on the cooktop if the weather isn't nice or you don't want to fire the outdoor grill.
