Instructions
- Melt the white chocolate chips and milk together in a medium saucepan. Keep the heat on low so the milk doesn’t burn. Continually stir so it doesn’t clump up and stick to the bottom!
- Let the milk and melted chocolate chips come to a light simmer. Do not let it boil.
- As soon as the hot chocolate simmers, immediately remove it from the heat.
- Once the pan is off the heat, stir in the vanilla and peppermint extract. continue to stir until they are fully combined.
- Add a few drops of green food coloring. Start with a few drops of food coloring and add a little at a time until it’s at a color you like.
- Once the hot chocolate is at a color you like, top each drink with whipped cream and some heart sprinkles.
- serve
Notes
- Start with just a few drops of green food coloring and add more as needed until you get the perfect Grinch color.
- Both gel food coloring and liquid food coloring can be used. Gel is a bit more concentrated therefore needing fewer drops to get it nice and vibrant. Liquid food coloring is more cost-effective, so whatever you’ve got, use it.
- Serve this immediately while warm. If your group is not quite ready, keep it warm in a slow cooker using the warm setting. Keep an eye on it so it doesn’t burn.
- You could also top it with mini marshmallows and then the sprinkles. White chocolate shavings, assorted Christmas sprinkles, and crushed candy cane could also be cute.
- Serve it in a clear mug so everyone can see the vibrant green.
