Ground Beef Stroganoff

This easy 30-minute Ground Beef Stroganoff recipe omits the cream of mushroom soup and uses ground beef for the best beef stroganoff and an awesome comfort food dinner!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 ounce package white mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 dash salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper (Optional)
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 (14-ounce) can beef broth
  • 1/2 cup sherry
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 (12-ounce) package wide egg noodles

Instructions

  1. Prepare the wide egg noodles per package instructions.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until it is no longer pink.
  3. Add the onions and mushrooms to the ground beef and cook about 5 minutes until onions are soft.
  4. Then add the garlic and stir for about a minute.
  5. Add salt, pepper, and, if you like, crushed red pepper and stir.
  6. Drizzle a tablespoon of Worcestershire over the ground beef, onions, garlic, and mushrooms.
  7. Add the flour and stir.
  8. Pour in the sherry, beef broth and rest of the Worcestershire and let it simmer.
  9. Cook for 5 minutes or so to let it thicken. Add the Dijon Mustard.
  10. Remove from heat and add the sour cream. Stir so that the sour cream is evenly distributed.
  11. Serve over cooked wide egg noodles. Enjoy!
