Haluski - Fried Cabbage and Noodles

Fried cabbage and noodles is a classic Eastern European dish that is so fast and easy to make! You can customize it to your liking with bacon, sausage or another meat!

Ingredients

  • 3 cups medium-wide egg noodles uncooked
  • 1 large onion sliced
  • 3-4 lices Bacon diced
  • 1/3 cup salted butter
  • 6 cups of green cabbage sliced
  • Salt and ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the noodles to al dente according to the package directions. Drain and run under cold water.
  2. In a large frying pan, cook the bacon until it releases some drippings. Add in the onions and cook for 10 minutes, until translucent. Drain the extra bacon grease.
  3. Add in the butter and cabbage and cook until the cabbage is tender-crisp, around 15 minutes.
  4. Stir the noodles into the pan, mixing in thoroughly.
  5. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Serve hot.

Notes

  • You can make this meatless ( which is traditional) and just use butter to fry the onions and cabbage in
