Ham and Egg Casserole
Ham and Egg Casserole is a baked dish combining beaten eggs and milk with diced cooked ham, shredded cheddar cheese, and finely diced sweet onion. Seasoned simply with seasoned salt, the mixture is baked until set and cut into squares. It can be garnished with fresh chives or parsley, offering a rich and savory breakfast or brunch option with a firm, custard-like texture.
Ingredients
- 8 large egg or use 4 whole eggs and 6 egg whites
- 1 cup milk whole or 2%
- ½ teaspoon seasoned salt (such as Lawry's)
- 8 ounces ham cooked, diced
- 1 cup cheddar cheese grated
- 3 tablespoons sweet onion very finely diced
- chives or parsley, chopped fresh, optional garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease or spray an 8-inch square baking dish with nonstick cooking spray; set aside. Beat the eggs, milk, and seasoned salt together with a whisk in a large bowl.
- Stir in the ham, cheese, and onion.
- Pour the egg mixture into the prepared baking dish.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the eggs are set and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Cut into squares and garnish with fresh herbs, if desired.
Notes
- For serving more people, double the ingredients and bake in a 9 x 13-inch dish, increasing baking time by 5–10 minutes to ensure the casserole is fully set.
