Ingredients

  • 4 chicken breasts
  • 2 tablespoon harissa paste
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoon lime juice
  • 2 tablespoon honey
  • 3 cloves garlic (turned into a paste)
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon sweet or smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon chopped coriander (to garnish)

  1. To make the marinade, mix together the harissa paste, olive oil, lime juice, honey, garlic paste, salt, black pepper, and paprika in a bowl.
  2. Place the chicken breasts in a shallow dish, and pour the marinade over them, ensuring each breast is evenly coated.
  3. Marinate the chicken in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or preferably for 2-4 hours if you have time. Avoid marinating them for more than 24 hours!
  4. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  5. Place the chicken breasts in a baking dish, without overcrowding.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until fully cooked, reaching an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  7. Let them rest for 5 minutes before serving with your favorite side dishes.

Notes

  • Marinate the chicken for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator, ideally for 2-4 hours if you have time. Avoid marinating for more than 24 hours.
  • Feel free to tweak the harissa paste to match your taste. If you like it mild, go easy on the paste. Want more spice? Add a bit extra!
  • Make sure to coat each chicken piece evenly with the marinade for the best flavor in every bite.
  • Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of the chicken. It should read 165°F (74°C) to ensure thorough cooking and safety.
