Healthy Hibiscus Margarita
This Healthy Hibiscus Margarita blends hibiscus syrup with freshly squeezed lime juice, tequila, and orange liqueur for a fruity, tangy cocktail. The tart floral notes from the hibiscus balance with the citrus and spirit, served over crushed ice. The salt- or sugar-rimmed glass adds a contrasting texture and flavor edge, enhancing the drinking experience.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons hibiscus syrup or concentrated hibiscus tea
- 2 tablespoons lime juice freshly squeezed
- 2 tablespoons tequila gold or silver, 100% agave
- 1 tablespoon orange liqueur I used Grand Marnier
- salt for garnish, rimmed glass and wedge of lime
- sugar
- lime
Instructions
- If desired, first rim glass with salt or sugar. Run a lime wedge around the rim of the glass, turning glass upside down into a plate of margarita salt or other coarse salt.
- Fill glass with crushed ice, then add hibiscus syrup, lime juice, tequila and grand marnier, stir to combine. If desired, garnish with a wedge of lime, hibiscus flower (rehydrated or from a syrup) and or other fresh seasonal berries.
Notes
- Prepare a larger batch by keeping the ingredient ratios consistent and serve about half a cup over ice.
- For a non-alcoholic version, mix one to two tablespoons of hibiscus syrup with ice and sparkling water.
- To make Agua de Jamaica, dilute the hibiscus syrup further with water and serve chilled with ice.
