Homemade Applesauce
Homemade Applesauce is a simple, cooked fruit sauce made by simmering peeled and cored apples with apple juice, sugar, and cinnamon until tender. The softened apples are then blended to create a smooth or slightly textured sauce depending on preference. This applesauce offers a fresh, mildly sweet and cinnamon-spiced flavor, suitable for eating warm or chilled as a snack, side, or ingredient in other recipes.
Ingredients
- 4 apple peeled, cored and chopped into 1-inch pieces
- 1/2 cup apple juice
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients into a medium saucepan, cover and simmer over medium-low heat for 15-20 minutes or until the apples are soft and start to break down.
- Transfer the mixture to a blender or food processor and blend until it reaches the desired consistency.
- Enjoy warm or chill. The mixture will thicken upon chilling.

Notes
- To achieve a thicker sauce, strain the finished applesauce through a fine mesh sieve to remove extra liquid.
- Apples can vary in moisture content; adjust cooking time or straining as needed based on desired consistency.
