Ingredients

  • 2 cups ketchup
  • 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 5 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon mustard powder dry
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon hot sauce or more to taste

Instructions

  1. Place all the ingredients in a pan over medium low heat. Stir to combine.
  2. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to low. Simmer for 8-10 minutes or until thickened.
  3. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one week, or freeze for up to 3 months.

Notes

  • Choose organic ketchup or ketchups without high fructose corn syrup for higher quality flavor.
  • Use smoked paprika rather than regular paprika to achieve the distinct smoky taste central to this BBQ sauce.
  • Store the sauce in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one week or freeze it for up to three months.
