Homemade Bread Bowl

A HOMEMADE BREAD BOWL is the right serving dish for any creamy soup or party dip. It soaks up the goodness from the soup and tastes amazing!

Ingredients

  • 2 Rapid Rise Yeast package
  • 7 cups bread flour
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 ½ cups water between 120 & 130 degrees F, warm
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil plus more for coating a bowl
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 tbsp water

Instructions

  1. attach the bread hook to your stand mixer
  2. add yeast to the bowl of mixer and then top with flour and salt
  3. turn mixer on low and then slowly add the water
  4. once that is combined increase the speed to medium and add in the oil
  5. allow the dough to continue to knead for 5 minutes until it becomes soft
  6. grease a large bowl with more vegetable oil and roll the bread dough around in the oil to coat
  7. cover the bowl with a damp towel and set in a warm place to rise for 15 to 20 minutes until the dough as doubled in size
  8. punch down the down and divide into 6 even portions
  9. form into balls and set onto a greased baking sheet
  10. cover with damp towel and allow to rise again until dough has doubled again
  11. preheat oven to 400 degrees
  12. in a small bowl combine egg whit and water
  13. brush all over the dough balls
  14. place a broiler pan on the top shelf of the oven and carefully fill with warm water
  15. place the rolls into the oven and bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown
  16. remove from oven and allow to cool completely on a wire rack
  17. using a sharp knife cut a circle out of the top and then remove the bread from the inside of the roll to create the bowl
  18. fill with your favorite thick soup or dip and enjoy!!!
