Homemade Garlic Bread Recipe
This Homemade Garlic Bread combines softened unsalted butter with finely minced garlic and parsley spread over sliced French or Italian bread. The bread is baked and then topped with Parmesan cheese before a quick broil to achieve a lightly browned finish. The result is a warm, flavorful bread with a crispy edge and a soft, garlicky center, suitable as a side for many meals.
Ingredients
- 1 unsalted butter stick, softened
- 3 garlic finely minced
- 1 tablespoon parsley finely minced
- 1 French bread sliced in half longways, or Italian bread; loaf of
- ½ cup Parmesan Cheese optional, shredded
- salt to taste
- black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°.
- In a bowl mix the butter, garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper together until combined. Set aside.
- Next, evenly spread the garlic butter on to each sliced half of bread on the cut side.
- Place the bread on a sheet tray lined with parchment paper and bake at 350°.
- Take the bread out of the oven and evenly sprinkle the cheese on top and then place it under the broiler for 2 minutes or until lightly browned.
- Slice and serve.
Notes
- Eat the garlic bread soon after baking for the best texture and flavor.
- Keep warm in the oven at 200°F for up to 30 minutes if not serving immediately, though it may dry slightly.
- Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 5 days; freezing is not recommended.
- Reheat wrapped in foil at 350°F for 6-8 minutes until warm.
- You can use any loaf-style bread, such as French or Italian, for this recipe.
- Butter can be replaced with about 1/3 cup olive oil as an alternative.
