Homemade Harissa Hummus

Homemade Harissa Hummus combines traditional chickpea hummus ingredients with spicy harissa paste to add a smoky heat dimension. The smooth, creamy blend of chickpeas, tahini, garlic, and olive oil is balanced by the bold chili flavor of harissa, yielding a dip with a kick that can be adjusted to taste. Ingredients

  • 1 can chickpea
  • 1/3 cup tahini
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • lemon juice of one
  • 1/2 tsp harissa paste more or less depending on how spicy you like the hummus to be

Instructions

  1. Place chickpeas, tahini and garlic in a food processor, blend until they start incorporating. 
  2. Add in lemon juice, salt, olive oil and harissa to the mixture, blend until fully combined and the hummus is creamy and smooth. 
  3. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container for three to five days. 

Notes

  • Adjust hummus texture with water if too thick for smoother consistency.
  • Use high-quality tahini and shake well before measuring for best flavor and texture.
  • Store homemade hummus in an airtight container in the fridge for 3 to 5 days.
  • Serve with fresh vegetables or pita as a flavorful, spicy dip.
