Homemade Starbucks Honey Citrus Mint Tea (Medicine Ball Recipe)
Homemade Starbucks Honey Citrus Mint Tea, also called the Medicine Ball, blends steamed lemonade with two types of herbal and green teas alongside honey and optional peppermint extract. The combination produces a soothing warm beverage with a balance of citrus tartness, mild sweetness, and minty freshness. This drink is enjoyed hot and is traditionally used as a comforting remedy.
Ingredients
- 1 ½ cup lemonade
- 1 achet tea or Tazo Zen Tea, Jade Citrus Mint, Teavana brand
- 1 achet tea or Bigelow Perfect Peach Herbal Tea, Peach Tranquility, Teavana brand
- 1 tbsp honey
- 2-3 drops peppermint extract or a teaspoon of peppermint syrup, optional
Instructions
- Steam lemonade in either an electric tea kettle set to 185 degrees F or on the stovetop in a saucepan (measure temperature with a thermometer) over medium heat. As it's steaming, add peppermint syrup or drops, if using. Once at temperature, remove the lemonade from the heat and into a large mug.
- Optional: Once heated, use a milk frother or the steam wand on your espresso maker to froth the lemonade.
- Steep the two tea bags in the hot lemonade: the green tea for 3 minutes, the peach tea for 5 minutes.
- Stir in the honey until fully incorporated into the tea.
- Drink and enjoy hot!
Notes
- Tea bags should be removed before storing refrigerated batches to avoid bitter flavors.
- This tea reheats effectively in a microwave-safe mug or over the stove on medium-low heat.
- Adjust peppermint extract quantity to taste; it is optional but adds a minty note often associated with the classic Medicine Ball.
- You can scale the recipe to multiple servings by increasing lemonade, tea bags, and honey accordingly.
