Homemade Taco and Chili Seasoning
This Homemade Taco and Chili Seasoning blend combines chili powder, cumin, garlic, onion, and a balance of heat from red pepper flakes and cayenne. Additional spices like oregano and paprika build layered smoky and herbaceous notes, while salt and black pepper season thoroughly. Stored in an airtight container, it provides a ready-to-use spice mix ideal for seasoning ground beef or other proteins in tacos or chili.
Ingredients
- 4 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes crushed
- ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon oregano dried
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 2 tablespoons cumin ground
- 3 teaspoons salt sea salt
- 4 teaspoons black pepper
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, crushed red pepper flakes, cayenne pepper, oregano, paprika, ground cumin, sea salt, and black pepper.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature.
Notes
- This spice blend makes about 2/3 cup and keeps up to a year in an airtight container.
- For seasoning 1 pound of ground beef, begin with 1 1/2 tablespoons and modify as needed.
