Homemade Teriyaki Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1-1/2 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1 cup soy sauce low sodium
  • 1/3 cup mirin
  • 1 tablespoon garlic grated, fresh
  • 1 tablespoon ginger grated fresh
  • 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar seasoned
  • 2 tablespoons water cold
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Instructions

  1. In a medium-sized saucepot add dark brown sugar, soy sauce, mirin, garlic, ginger, and seasoned rice wine vinegar.
  2. Place over medium heat, stir to combine and cook until the sugar is fully dissolved.
  3. In a small bowl mix together cold water and cornstarch until smooth.
  4. Pour the cornstarch mixture into the sauce and continue cooking until thickened, about 5 minutes.
