Homemade Turtle Candy

Making your own homemade turtle candy is a great pastime that is perfect year-round. Caramel, chocolate, with a little crunch! Nothings better.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups pecans
  • 1 ½ cups caramels soft candy, unwrapped
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1 ½ cups milk chocolate see note
  • 2 teaspoons sea salt

Instructions

  1. Spread the pecans out on a lined sheet tray.
  2. Melt the caramels and cream in the microwave in 30 second increments until it's almost completely melted. Stir until totally melted.
  3. Drop tablespoons onto the pecans, spacing them out slightly.
  4. Melt the chocolate in the microwave in 30-second intervals until it's almost completely melted. Stir until totally melted.
  5. Drizzle the chocolate over the top of the caramel dollops.
  6. Sprinkle the tops with sea salt. Let set in the fridge until set.
  7. Repeat until all the pecans are gone.

Notes

  • You will need to use soft caramels for this recipe. 
  • You can use any kind of chocolate you prefer.
