Honey Mustard Chicken Wings
This Honey Mustard Chicken Wings recipe features crispy oven-baked wings coated in a tangy, sweet sauce made from Dijon mustard, honey, apple cider vinegar, and hot sauce. The wings are tossed with avocado oil and seasonings before baking on a wire rack to ensure crispiness without deep frying. After baking, the wings are coated in the flavorful sauce and baked again to allow the glaze to set. This method results in wings that are crispy, sticky, and flavorful, ideal for gatherings or a flavorful snack.
Ingredients
Sauce
- 1/3 cup Dijon mustard
- 3 tablespoon honey
- 2 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
- 2 teaspoon hot sauce
Chicken
- 2 pounds chicken wings tips removed, and drumettes separated (about 20-24 wings)
- 1 tablespoon avocado oil or olive oil
- salt to taste
- black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Use a paper towel to remove any moisture from the chicken wings.
- In a large mixing bowl, toss the wings with the oil, salt and pepper.
- Layer a piece of parchment paper on a baking sheet then place a wire rack on top. Spread out the wings on a single layer on the wire rack.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes or until crispy.
- While the wings are cooking, make the sauce. Add the dijon mustard, honey, apple cider vinegar, and hot sauce to a bowl and stir until well combined.
- Remove wings from the oven. Toss the wings in the sauce and place them back in the oven on the baking sheet and cook for an additional 10 minutes.
Notes
- Use a heavy-duty baking sheet to prevent warping during high-temperature baking.
- Removing moisture from the wings before seasoning helps achieve crispier skin.
- Toss wings thoroughly in sauce before the final bake to ensure even coating.
