Honeydew Lemonade
Honeydew Lemonade is a refreshing beverage made by blending ripe honeydew melon into a puree, then mixing it with freshly squeezed lemon juice and water. The balanced sweetness of honeydew combined with the bright acidity of lemon juice creates a cool, mildly sweet, and tangy drink best served chilled over ice.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs. honeydew melon about ½ medium melon, ripe
- ½ cup lemon juice freshly squeezed
- 2 ½ cups water
- honey depending on the sweetness of the fruit, or sweetener of your choice, optional
Instructions
- Peel and cube the honeydew and puree it in a blender. You should have about 2 cups of puree. Pour it into a pitcher along with the lemon juice and water and stir to combine well. If needed, add a tablespoon or two of honey or other sweetener (if the honeydew is ripe and very sweet, you won't need to use any additional sweetener). If desired, strain the honeydew lemonade before pouring into glasses. Serve over ice.
Notes
- Freeze melon balls made with a melon baller to use as ice cubes; they keep the drink cold without watering it down.
