Hootenanny

Hootenanny is a kid favorite in our house! Tastes like french toast, but it's so much easier to make!

Ingredients

  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
  2. Place the stick of butter in a 9x13 baking dish and put it in the oven to melt while you prepare the batter. Keep an eye on the butter and remove the pan from the oven if it starts to brown, but work quickly so that the pan does not cool.
  3. Beat the eggs, milk, salt, cinnamon, vanilla, and nutmeg until frothy.
  4. Whisk in the flour until well combined.
  5. Pour over the melted butter in the baking dish. Do not stir.
  6. Bake for 25 minutes or until the center is set and the edges are browned.
  7. Slice into 8 pieces and serve with maple syrup, fresh fruit, or powdered sugar.

Notes

  • Be sure the butter and pan are hot from the oven before pouring the mixture into the pan or it will not puff up as well.
  • The hootenanny will settle a bit after removing from the oven. This is normal.
