Hot Bacon Dressing

Ingredients

  • 8 slices Bacon diced
  • 1/4 cup finely diced onion or shallot
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar

  1. Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crisp. Remove bacon and set aside, leaving about 1/4 cup of bacon grease in the skillet.
  2. Add the onion to the skillet and sauté until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together sugar, cornstarch, salt, and pepper. Gradually whisk in water and vinegar until smooth.
  4. Pour the vinegar mixture into the skillet with the onions, stirring constantly. Cook over medium heat until the dressing thickens, about 1 minute.
  5. Return the cooked bacon to the skillet, stir to combine. Serve the dressing warm over your favorite salad.
