Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups half and half or light cream
  • ¾ cup brown sugar packed
  • 3 tablespoons butter unsalted
  • 2 ½ cups chocolate chips semi-sweet
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine half and half and brown sugar over medium heat until until brown sugar has dissolved and tiny bubbles start to form on the edges.
  2. Stir in the butter until melted, and turn off the heat.
  3. Add the chocolate chips and do not stir. Let sit for 2 to 3 minutes.
  4. Whisk chocolate chips until smooth, stir in vanilla, and serve warm or cool.

Notes

  • Store sauce in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 10 days.
  • Reheat gently using low microwave power or a stovetop water bath to avoid burning.
  • Freeze sauce for longer storage; thaw slowly over medium heat.
  • Add a little milk after reheating if the sauce becomes too thick.
