Hot Fudge Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 teaspoon unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan mix together sugar and cocoa until combined. Add cream and stir.
  2. Bring to a boil and boil for 1 minute.
  3. Remove from heat and add butter and vanilla. Stir until butter is melted. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Yes, it needs to be refrigerated. It will keep for up to two weeks as long as it's stored in an airtight container.
  • You can reheat homemade it either on the stove or in the microwave. Warm it slowly and stir until it's smooth and shiny.
  • Yes, you can freeze it in an airtight container for several months. You will want to first thaw it in the refrigerator and then reheat it either on the stove top or in the microwave. If the sauce is too thick you can thin it with some extra cream or milk.
