Hot Toddy
The Hot Toddy is a warm cocktail made by combining bourbon, honey, boiling water, and a cinnamon stick, served with a wedge of lemon. Stirring dissolves the honey for a soothing, mildly sweet drink with cinnamon warmth and bright citrus notes. It is intended as a comforting beverage for relaxing or warming up.
Ingredients
- 1 pot water , boiling
- 1 teaspoon honey
- 1 1/2 ounces bourbon
- 1 large cinnamon stick
- 1 lemon , cut into wedges
Instructions
- Add the honey, bourbon, cinnamon stick and 1 lemon wedge to a cup, fill with water just off boiling, let sit for two minutes.
- Stir with the cinnamon stick until the honey is dissolved. Add an extra squeeze of lemon if desired.
Notes
- Use boiling water just off the boil to steep flavors without diminishing bourbon aroma.
- Stir with the cinnamon stick to help dissolve honey and distribute spice.
- Adjust lemon to taste, adding more for brighter acidity if preferred.
